Terms of Service

Last updated November 2, 2026

Please read these terms carefully. They explain what TaxOS does, what it does not do, and how plans and billing work.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

TaxOS is operated by [Legal business name] ("TaxOS", "we", "us"), [Mailing address], Prince Edward Island, Canada. These terms govern your use of the TaxOS website and application (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What TaxOS is, and what it is not

TaxOS is a tax-planning and record-organization tool for Canadian individuals and small businesses. It produces planning estimates from the information you enter.

  • TaxOS is not a tax-return preparation or filing service. It does not file anything with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or any province on your behalf.
  • TaxOS is not an accountant, tax adviser or lawyer, and nothing in the Service is professional tax, accounting or legal advice.
  • TaxOS is not certified, approved or endorsed by the CRA or any government body.
  • Estimates are partial. They exclude several credits, surtaxes, premiums and benefit adjustments, and they depend on the figures you provide and on rules that change. Always verify important positions against current CRA and provincial guidance, or with a qualified professional, before filing or acting.

3. AI-generated content

Some features, including answers from the tax assistant, receipt scanning and suggested deductions, use artificial intelligence. AI output can be incomplete or wrong. You are responsible for reviewing it, and no deduction or credit should be claimed on the strength of AI output alone.

4. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed without permission. You are responsible for activity on your account.

5. Your information

You keep ownership of the information and documents you put into TaxOS. You give us the limited permission needed to store, process and display them in order to provide the Service to you, including sending relevant information to the service providers described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for having the right to upload it.

6. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the Service unlawfully, or to submit false or misleading information to any tax authority.
  • Do not attempt to access another person's data, probe or disrupt the Service, or bypass plan limits or security controls.
  • Do not use automated means to overload the Service or to resell or copy it.

7. Plans, billing and cancellation

TaxOS offers a free plan and paid plans, priced in Canadian dollars as shown on the pricing page at the time you subscribe. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. Applicable taxes are added where required. We do not store your card number; payment details are handled by Stripe.

You can cancel, update your card and view invoices at any time from Manage billing on the Plans & pricing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep paid features until then. Unless the law requires otherwise, fees already paid are not refundable.

Each plan has usage limits described on the pricing page, such as a monthly allowance of AI questions. We may change plans, prices and limits on reasonable notice; a price change will not apply to a billing period that has already started.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may add, change or remove features. Tax rules and rates are updated periodically, and a figure shown today may be out of date later.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including that the Service or any estimate is accurate, complete, current or suitable for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, TaxOS is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, or for any penalties, interest, reassessments or additional tax resulting from reliance on an estimate. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your workspace at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or misuse the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Prince Edward Island and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Courts located in Prince Edward Island have jurisdiction over disputes, except where consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will give notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
